Junior Achievement’s high school achievers face off in Dragons’ Lair pitch competition
LONDON, ON – Junior Achievement’s (JA) top high school achievers will pit their business savvy and innovative products at a winner-take-all Dragons’ Lair competition on Saturday here at Fanshawe College.
A total of 19 JA Company Program teams from across southwestern Ontario will pitch judges on why their product is the best. This is an exciting part of an 18-week program that sees high school students come together to: form a business, design a product or service, create and take the product to market, andwork to make a profit. Students develop leadership, teamwork, and business skills as they operate their JA companies with the guidance of volunteers from the business community.
Judges, from the Lawrence Kinlin School of Business at Fanshawe College, and from businesses in the community, will judge each team’s presentation with the top three finalists competing on stage around 3 p.m.
“This is the culmination of planning, creativity, learning to be a team – and hard work,” said Bev Robinson, president and CEO, JA of London and District. “We are proud of the growth students demonstrate through JA Company Program and are excited to showcase the teams at Dragons’ Lair.”
The event also features a ‘market place’ – product displays, and in honour of JA’s 100th worldwide anniversary this year, an archival display of JA products, past and present.
