JA SWO Self-Directed Online Programs

 

Launch of FREE Online JA Programming!

JA Canada has been working hard to make certain programs available online and—with the current global health situation—is launching some programs ahead of schedule with more to come. We encourage you to share these online resources with your contacts to help support our local students in staying connected to their education and planning for their future.

Currently available:

JA eTrades  
Students will encounter multiple learning mediums that will assist them in understanding, analyzing, evaluating and applying financial and business skills essential for a successful trades career.  

Best for: Grades 8-12

Time requirement: Four 1-hour sessions

Certificate issued upon completion

Put on your entrepreneurial hat and run your own retail business in JA Canada's BizCraft game.

 

Best for: Grades 5 and up

Time requirement: Approximately 1 hour, can be replayed

  • Draw conclusions about planning and running a retail business

JA Economics for Success Online  

Take a closer look at the advantages of staying in school, as well as learn what’s needed to succeed in today’s workforce.

 

Best for: Grades 7-10

Time requirement: Approximately 2 hours

 

 

  • Map your interests, skills, and passions to possible careers
  • Learn how to network, identify a mentor, and create a strong personal brand
  • Create a budget to prepare for the financial reality of post-secondary life
  • Develop strategies that will help you achieve your goals

JA Investment Strategies Program  
Students learn how to save and invest for the future. The program includes both interactive classroom lessons and an online stock market simulation, Invest JA, where students manage their own simulated stock portfolio.  

Best for: Grades 8-12

Time requirement: flexible, over 6 week period

 

 

  • Understand the pros and cons of different investments, such as RRSPs, exchange-traded funds and GICs
  • Follow a Canadian stock for the duration of the program
  • Build a portfolio for the online stock market simulation
  • Learn about socially and ethically responsible investment
  • Test your knowledge by competing against other teams from across Canada
