Junior Achievement applauds winning young achievers
at annual JA Company Program Celebration of Excellence
LONDON, ON. – Innovation Award, President of the Year, Award of Excellence, Sales Person of the Year Award – these and other significant awards will be presented by JA (Junior Achievement) London and District to winning young achievers at the annual JA Celebration of Excellence on May 1.
The event recognizes the achievements of high school students in JA’s Company Program – a program that sees a group of students form a company, select and produce a product or service, market the product, and work hard to make a profit. Through the Company Program, students develop leadership, teamwork and business skills as they operate their JA companies with the guidance of volunteer mentors from the local business community.
“The Celebration of Excellences acknowledges the hard work, commitment and spirit of entrepreneurship demonstrated by each Company Program high school student over the past 18 weeks,” said Bev Robinson, JA President and CEO. “It is also an opportunity for us to thank our sponsors and volunteers – with their commitment, JA reaches over 9,000 students annually with financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurship programs, including the Company Program.”
In all, 270 students formed 17 companies this past year. JA London and District serves London, and the counties of Middlesex, Oxford, Elgin, Huron, Perth, Bruce and Grey. This year marks the 100th anniversary of JA worldwide and JA London and District hopes to reach 10,000 students in this centennial year.
